In a design competition, IIT Bombay has awarded SSA the project Girls Hostel. The proposed extension of Girls Hostel building is a naturally ventilated building for accommodating 792 rooms in ground + 9 storey with built-up area of 242,000 Sq.ft. The project design has been done with intention of incorporation of green building features in the buildings. These features are optimum orientation, climate responsive architecture (adequate day-light, shading design and roof insulation), energy efficient design of the lighting and air-conditioning system, basic services for construction
workers, energy and material efficient construction techniques, extensive use of fly-ash in construction, solar water heating, solar photovoltaic based power generation, water efficiency in building and landscape, waste water treatment and reuse, solid waste management and treatment, energy audit and validation, operation and maintenance. With the intention of above mentioned points project targets three stars GRIHA rating.
